Barbara Spencer

December 25, 1930 — July 1, 2025

Aberdeen

Barbara Jean Flanagan Spencer, 94, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.  Barbara was born in McCool, MS on December 25, 1930 to the late Stephen Noel Flanagan, Sr. and Gervis Vanlandingham Flanagan.  She was a graduate of Holmes High School and married Jack Spencer on March 13, 1951.  Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She was an avid sports fan.  Barbara's family remembers many trips watching Jackie play baseball, going to many Cardinal's games and trips to Oxford to watch Ole Miss.  She also enjoyed watching sports on TV.  Barbara was also an accomplished tennis player.  She loved to collect ceramic birds and passed many afternoons by, watching her hummingbirds come to her feeders.  A great cook, Barbara could always make just enough food to keep from having left overs.  She dearly loved her family, especially her being with her grandchildren whom affectionately called her Dah.  Barbara was the epitome of a matriarch of her family.  She was a member of Aberdeen First United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Spencer Kosac, Marietta, GA; son, Jackie Spencer (Teresa), Amory; grandchildren, Trey Spencer (Kellie), Amory, Anthony Kosac (Susanna), Atlanta, Brett Spencer (Lesley), Amory and Spencer Kosac, Atlanta; great grandchildren, J.D. Spencer, Case Spencer, Reid Spencer, Jack Kosac, Maggie Beth Spencer and Gray Kosac arriving July of 2025; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara is preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Noel Flanagan, Jr.
