Betty Hudson

Betty Lane Hudson, 96, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. She was born in Jackson, TN on January 25, 1930, to Clay Neely Akin and France Lane Akin. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in home economics and was married to Mr. Robert Hudson and later Mr. William Hudson, both of whom preceded her in death. She worked with her husband, Robert, in their pharmacy, Hudson’s Drug Store and she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. A true Aberdeen socialite, she was active in the Methodist Women’s Circle and the garden club. In addition, Ms. Hudson has been a member of the Tombigbee Chapter of DAR since its founding in November 1975, and she was named Regent from 1978-1980, and again from 1982-1984 where she displayed true leadership and inspiration. She took great pride in her heritage, encouraging others to be a part of supporting our nation’s history through American independence and the Revolutionary War.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen with Rev. Fawn Keen officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hudson (Richard Coleman), Aberdeen and Bobby Hudson (Rebecca); and cousins, Charles Lane Clay and Brent Lane.

Pallbearers will be Bob Scott, Nolan Bowen, Alan Gurley, Dale Pierce, Ed Mattox, Frank Bender, James Davidson, and Shae Cain. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Herndon and Tommy Oaks.

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Tombigbee Chapter of DAR, Aberdeen.
