Billy Hanna Jr.

Shannon- William "Billy" Earl Hanna, Jr., 71, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at his residence in Shannon.  He was born on July 8, 1953 to parents William Earl Hanna, Sr. and Dereatha (Ricks) Hanna in Hemingway, South Carolina. He lived most of his life in the Shannon area. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He had worked as an industrial supervisor, business owner and farmer. He was of the Baptist faith. Billy enjoyed hunting, working in the fields and  riding his tractors and lawn mower. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. 

The family will have a Memorial Service at The Sycamore in Tupelo on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 4pm until 5:30pm.  Mr. Hanna's friends and family are welcomed.

He is survived by one daughter, Tonya Self (Rusty), one son, Billy Hanna (Megan), 9 grandchildren, Glenda Self, Kelsey Brookes (Cody),  Jesse Timms (Trenton), George Self (Gracie), Dalton Hanna (Aubrie), Brayden, Briley and Emily Hanna, Logan Canery; 9 great grandchildren, 5 siblings, David, Yvonne, Donna, Gail, Joyce, Rose and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lou Hanna, one son, Nathan Yeager,  and one sister, Karen Hanna.
