HAMILTON – Thomas Bradley “Brad” Oakes, 48, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus. He was born July 13, 1977 to Tommy and Lana Oakes. Brad attended Itawamba Community College and East Mississippi Community College and earned his associates degree before joining the U.S. Air Force.
Born in Monroe County, the Air Force took him to Warner Robbins, Georgia, where he met his wife, Roxanne, before living in Okinawa, Japan. They moved back in 2010 and made Hamilton their home. Brad was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton.
He worked in shipping and receiving for the Logistics Readiness Squadron at the Columbus Air Force Base.
In addition to Roxanne and his parents, Brad leaves behind two sons, Thomas Bradley Oakes Jr. and James Ruger Oakes; his sister, Tonya Coker (Kenny); several nieces and nephews; brother- and sister-in-law, JD and Kellie Lee and Jayme and Matt Kelley; and mother-in-law, Ellen Lee.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church, with Bro. Dennis Smithey, Rubel West and Matt Gilmore officiating. Visitation is from 12 to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Pallbearers will be J.D. Lee, Matt Kelley, Thomas Oakes, Ruger Oakes, Kenneth Coker and Kasey Coker.
