Catherine (Cathy) Alexander Kelly passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She was born in Amory, MS on August 2nd, 1961 to Anne and Rev. Robert David Alexander. The daughter of a Methodist minister, she moved around the Mississippi Delta when she was growing up. She went on to graduate from Mississippi State University with a degree in Special Education. She married Robert (Rocky) Kelly in August 1991, and they had two children together (Will and Kim). She worked in early childhood intervention and special education at all grade levels for nearly 30 years before she retired in 2013. She truly loved every student she taught and thought of them often even after her retirement.
Cathy’s life was marked by her joy, compassion, generosity, and faith. She was known for how she loved others and shared whatever she had with whomever she could. In her free time, she enjoyed sports of all kinds (tennis, basketball, cycling, etc.), music, but most of all spending time with her family that she cherished so deeply.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
She is survived by her husband, Rocky Kelly; daughter Kimberly Silverman (Chris) and granddaughter Ellie Silverman; son Will Kelly (Morgan) and granddaughter Georgia Kelly; sister, Susanne Malatesta (Larry); as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother David Alexander.
The family extends a special thanks to Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS for their care and support. The family requests that any memorials be made to Sanctuary Hospice or to a charity of one’s choosing.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
