Leria Christine Johnson Burns Strawbridge, 94, went to be in the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on December 28, 1931, to Dee and Pearl Kennedy. A woman of profound faith, she was a devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren more than could ever be expressed. The legacy she leaves to trust and lean on God’s perfect timing will live forever through her family because of her amazing spirit. She had a heart to help anyone any way she could and sought to better everyone’s life. Ms. Christine was a founding member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, and she served any way she could. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Jesse Betts and Bro. Blake Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the New Chapel Cemetery.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Sherman Johnson, Jr. (Pam), Nettleton, Roger Johnson (Davene), Fulton and Tim Johnson (Jennifer), Nettleton; her daughter, Barbara Hearn (John), Tupelo; her grandchildren, David Hearn, Steven Johnson, Tony Johnson, Timmy Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Bethany Clark, Maddie Petre, Laura Leigh Johnson, Eli Johnson, Blair Brewer, Samantha Frederick, Chad Johnson, Chloe Johnson, and Dustin Causey; great grandchildren, Abbygale Johnson, Donna Rhynes, Madison Johnson, Ryker Johnson, Silas Tatum, Kole Clark, Henry Petre, Clay Johnson, Cole Johnson, Serendipity Causey, Preston Underwood, Avery Underwood, and Zoey Short; and special friends, Jesse and Martha Betts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Maxine Armstrong; 12 brothers and sisters; and her husbands, Sherman Johnson and Lloyd Burns.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Causey, Chad Johnson, Eli Johnson, Cole Johnson, and Kole Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee “Bubba” Boggs and Henry Lloyd Petre.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in Nettleton.
