Clayton L. Thompson, 75, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born in Hamilton on March 8, 1950, he was the son of Talmadge and Margarite Sanders Thompson. Clayton was a graduate of Hamilton High School and was a dedicated 30-year employee of Kerr-McGee and Tronox. In addition, during those 30 years, he was an active farmer and loved the land in which he took great pride. He enjoyed barrel racing with his horses and won many trophies over the years. His hobbies included watching westerns and fishing. Clayton was a strong-willed man who loved his family fiercely and loved spending time on the river or Smith Lake tubing or simply enjoying one of the many fish fries he had. He was of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Corbell (Wayne), Hamilton; three grandchildren, Jessie Beard (Cody), Shannon Duett (Justin), and Colby Holley (Madison); 5 grandchildren, Peyton, Sophie, Kane, Sadie, and Shiloh; and Chasity Sullivan and Nikki Hanna whom he loved as his own daughters.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his grandfather, Greely Sanders; and his aunt and uncle, Kurt and Reedy Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Pittman, Tracy Pittman, Cody Pittman, Cody Beard, Justin Duett, and Justin Keller. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Holloway, Donnie Dill, Alan Wayne Taylor, and Danny Holloway.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
