Clifford Eugene Trussell

Clifford “Eugene” Trussell passed from this life in Oxford, MS on Thursday, March 16th to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Eugene was born February 21,1929 to Daniel Martin Trussell and Fannie Lee Hooker Trussell in Gore Springs, MS.  He is predeceased by his parents and siblings Raiford, Agnes Chamberlain (Roy), James Trussell (Marie), LeRoy Trussell (Martha Lynn), and Marjorie Spratlin (O. D.).  His loving wife of 71 years, Mary Sue McCartney Trussell survives him.  The Trussell’s children are Pam Tisdale (Kenny) and Kerwin Trussell (Nancy).  Grandchildren are Kenneth Tisdale (Chelsey), Mary Leigh Schoolar (Patrick), John Trussell (Sara) and Mark Trussell (Grace).  Great grandchildren are Miley, Evie Claire, Piper, Talon, Walker and Grey.   

“Uncle Eugene” is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Eugene graduated from Gore Springs High School and served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict.  He also served in the Grenada, MS Army National Guard and later worked for the Guard as a civilian employee at Camp McCain, MS.  Eugene also worked for Grenada Industries and in sales before he and his brother, LeRoy, were owner operators of Trussell’s Country Store servicing farmers and other citizens in Grenada County, MS and the region.

Mr. Trussell was a fierce patriot of the United States of America and was active in and a deacon of First Baptist Church, Grenada, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Gore Springs, and First Baptist Church, Aberdeen.  He was also a Gore Springs Volunteer Fireman and former member of the Grenada Civitan Club and the Gore Springs Community Club.      

Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Home, Grenada, MS at 11 o’clock AM with visitation prior to the service at 10 o’clock AM.  Burial will be at Gore Springs Cemetery at Gore Springs Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Gore Springs, MS, The Mississippi Baptist Children’s Village or a charity of the donor’s choice.
