Dewey Robert McKnight, Sr.

February 6, 1957 — June 18, 2023

Aberdeen

Dewey Robert McKnight, Sr., 66, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen, MS.  He was born on February 26, 1957 in Clarksdale, MS to the late Jack Allen and Josephine Graham McKnight.  Dewey was a graduate of Lee Academy in Lyon, MS where he was a talented left handed pitcher and received several D1 college scholarships.  Dewey moved to Monroe County in the early 80’s and worked for a number of years in industrial sales.  There is a quote that says “Born to Fish and hunt, forced to work” and that describes Dewey perfectly.  There wasn’t a lake, pond, creek or river that he wouldn’t fish nor a hill, holler or bottom that he wouldn’t hunt in.  Dewey took pride in hunting with his son and his grandchildren.  He had numerous hunting and fishing buddies near and far.  Dewey was a good man who never met a stranger and lived life on his own terms.  There is no doubt that the future will hold plenty of Dewey stories.

Dewey is survived by his son, Rob McKnight (Kellie), Greenwood Springs; sisters, Sue Carol Mauney, Searcy, AR, Nancy Blaylock, Birmingham, Nina Giger (Phil), Monroe, LA; brother, Richard McKnight, Senatobia; grandchildren, Charleigh and Gage McKnight; a host of nieces, nephews and hunting buddies.

In addition to his parents, Dewey is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanine McKnight; brothers, Andy Graham and Jack Allen McKnight, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Rev.
