Donald Gilliland

Willie Donald “Don” Gilliland, 91, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen. He was born in Greenwood Springs on February 23, 1931 to Robert G. “Bob” and Jency Thompson Gilliland. He married the former Willene Pounders who preceded in death after 53 years. He worked in tool and die manufacturing for many years retiring from United Technologies. For 16 years, he served as Justice Court Judge for District 2 in Monroe County. In addition, he farmed cattle and loved to work with horses and hunt. He was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Tisdale-Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Gilliland (Penny Taylor), Hamilton; daughter, Michelle Hyland, Atlanta, GA; sister, Jane G. Knoop (Harold W.), Aberdeen; grandchildren, Taylor Hyland, Ashley G. Blaylock (Brody), and Aubrey Gilliland; great grandchildren, Kately, Kennedy, and Kollins Blaylock; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife of 53 years, Willene P. Gilliland; brothers, Edward and Russell Gilliland; and sisters, Azilee Smith, Trilby Garner, and Shirley Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Andy Grant, Eric Grant, Tommy Clegg, and Brody Blaylock.

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
