Douglas "Skip" Francis Jr.

Douglas N. "Skip" Francis Jr.,80, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the NMMC-Hospice Unit in Tupelo. Born in Bigbee, MS on January 17, 1946 to parents Doug Francis and Norine Dill Francis. Prior to his retirement he worked in purchasing at True Temper Sports. He was a member of Nettleton Independent Methodist Church and a veteran of the Mississippi National Guard. Skip enjoyed farming, raising cattle, mowing his yard, all Mississippi State Sports, tinkering and piddling. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Funeral services will be 11 am on Saturday, August 22, 2026 in the chapel of Tisdale-Lann  Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Bubba Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery in Itawamba County.

Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2026 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice Bickerstaff Francis; son Chris Francis (Christie); daughter, Amy Hurley (Noah Hunter); brother William "Buz" Francis (Lynda); grandchildren Baxter Francis (Katherine); Ethan Francis; Ally Hurley; great grandchild, Jack Francis; niece, Teresa Freed, Jessica Roberts, Lesley Francis and special friend Bob Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Corrine Ball and nephew, Tony Freed.

Pallbearers will be Baxter Francis, Ethan Francis, Rick Chaney, Danny Leach, Roger Dean and Jason Dean.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Hill and Jay Freed.
