Edna Stoddard

Edna Viola Best Stoddard, 67, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen.  A daughter of Johnny Virgil and Edna Mae Shields Best, she was born on February 4, 1956 in Columbus.  She grew up in the Aberdeen area and had lived in Florida several times.  She attended Itawamba Junior College and worked in the area garment plants but retired in retail management.  On June 29, 1985 she married Danny Stoddard and she was a great homemaker who enjoyed cooking, canning, and taking care of her farm animals especially her chickens.  

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.  

In addition to her husband, Danny Stoddard, she is survived by one daughter, Heather Kirkley Zanier (Aaron) of Aberdeen; sons, Derik Stoddard of Oklahoma, and Jonathan Best (Chelsea) of Columbus; two sisters, Barbara Gilmer of Aberdeen and Patsy Buzbee of Alabama; one grandchild, Lillian Stoddard of Arkansas.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Johnnie Virgil Best and her first husband, David Kirkley.

Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
