Elizabeth Virginia McCollum, 91, entered into her heavenly home on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Oak Tree Manor in Amory, Mississippi after an extended illness. She we born on December 21,1932 in Itawamba County to the late Elbert and Rosie Miles Towery. After marrying her husband Howard on December 16, 1950, they made their home in Nettleton where they were blessed with their two sons, Donny and Ronald. Elizabeth worked as a nursing assistant for several years, as well as working at Amory Garment, and the Nettleton High School cafeteria, before retiring. Her most cherished job of all was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her "girls" who affectionately called her Gran-Gran. A Baptist by faith, she was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church until her health declined. Elizabeth's love of nature was profound, as everyone would always compliment the beautiful flowers she would grow in her yard. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking meals for her entire family. She also loved writing poetry and letters, and you would often find her reading on the front porch swing.
Funeral services for Elizabeth are at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 11, 2024, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Mr. James Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
