Ginny Lee Coggins

Amory

Virginia Lee Maier Coggins, “Ginny Lee”, 77, of Amory, MS, formerly of Aberdeen MS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore in Amory, MS, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Aberdeen, MS, she was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Willey Maier Jr. and Grace Andres Maier Hill, step-daughter of Wilmot G. Hill.Ginny Lee was a graduate of Aberdeen High School and earned a degree in sociology from the University of Mississippi with a minor in French. Her husband, Brother Charles, could not have asked for a better pastor’s wife. He cherished Ginny Lee’s servant heart which was filled and fueled by her love for Jesus; and that tank never ran dry! Ginny Lee, loved to help everyone and anyone she could. She was an incredible friend and even better wife to her sweet husband. As the youngest of 3 girls, Ginny Lee’s two older sisters adored her. Being closer in age to her middle sister, Grace, she could often be found tagging along with her and her friends, who only welcomed her, as she was never seen as a bother, but rather a sweet sister who was a pleasure to be around. Not much changed as they grew older, as she and her sisters had a special bond that most siblings could only hope for. When the three got together, it was pure laughter and fun! We loved hearing the stories from her younger years, when she opened a Merle Norman studio and of her fond memories working at Henry’s in Aberdeen. She also made many wonderful friendships while working with Farm Bureau as well as the West Point, Montgomery County and Tupelo school systems. Virginia had several titles over the course of her life. She was most commonly known as “Ginna Lee”, but it’s safe to say her favorite name was, “Mama”. Being a mother was the joy of her existence, and there was no one who did it better. Her love for her children spilled over to her many nieces and nephews, as well as her God children. Even her children’s friends, often looked at Miss Ginny Lee as second mom as she loved them like they were her own. And just when you think a person can’t possibly be more amazing than they already are, Ginny Lee became a grandmother! Known as Gram and Gaga, nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandkids. You could practically see the love pouring out of her when she was with them; they couldn’t help but adore and love her right back.It would be impossible to cover all the people who Ginny Lee touched in the course of her life, but for those of us who knew her, know that the world will be a little less sweet without this wonderful lady in it, but our memories that much sweeter. We are grateful to have loved and to have been loved by this wonderful woman and so thankful that she is free from pain with her Savior in Heaven.

Ginny Lee will be sadly missed and always in the hearts of her loving husband of 33 years, Brother Charles Coggins, of Amory, MS; her son, Brett Bales and his wife Jennifer of Bradenton, FL, her daughter, Jennifer Bales James and her husband Jimmy of Long Beach, MS, her son, Scott Bales and his wife Erika of Arlington, TN; her step children, Allison Covington and her husband Mike of Conroe, TX, Keith Coggins and his wife Brenda of Amory, MS; her sister, Grace Maier Walker and her husband Rick of Grand Junction, CO; her grandchildren, Lorean Bales Miyamoto and her husband Charlie, Tommy Bales, Flynn James, Persson, Boston, and George Bales, Stuart Coggins and his wife Fallon, Charlie Coggins, Kinley Butz, as well as her great grandchildren, Ellie Bales, and Chance Miyamoto, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ginny Lee is preceded in death by her parents as well as her dear sister, Patti Maier Lann, her two precious grandchildren, Cody Bales, and Olivia Bales, and by her two cherished great nephews, Will Bales, and Thomas Lee Bales.
