Greg Pruett

Gregory Clinton Pruett, 61, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital—Golden Triangle in Columbus. Born on July 9, 1963, he was the son of Billy and Shirley Howell Pruett. Growing up alongside his two sisters, he graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1981 where he was a 3-year starter for the Aberdeen Bulldog football team. An active member of Aberdeen First Baptist Church youth group, according to his sisters, he was always the life of the party. Greg later attended Itawamba Junior College on a scholarship for the Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble. After college, he went to work at Kerr-McGee alongside his father, before deciding to start his on fencing business. Good with his hands, he was knowledgeable on most anything and could fix most anything. An avid hunter, he enjoyed all types of game hunting, and he also loved playing golf and made many lifelong friendships from these activities. A loving father and family man is what he is most known for. He attended his children’s events and spent as much time as he could with them. Cooking for everyone at family get-togethers, being with his nieces and nephews, or attending his brother-in-law’s baseball games, spending time with family was most important. Memories made with Greg will forever be cherished.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery in Aberdeen with Bro. Chris Thomas officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by one son, Chase Pruett, Aberdeen; step-son, Dustin Goodwin (BreAnna), Wren; two sisters, Brenda Patrick (David), Collierville and Debbie Earnest (Lewis); Roy Pruett, Drew Pruett; a niece and four nephews; and special friends, Brent Bourland, Tim Nelson, John Young, and a host of others.

He was preceded in death by his parents.Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
