Leona Inez Ballard Brown, 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born on April 21, 1932 in Aberdeen to Howard and Ruby Inez Coleman Ballard. A life-long resident of Aberdeen, she graduated Aberdeen High School and she attended Mississippi University for Women, Blackwood School of Music, and Mississippi State University. Inez married Julian Arthur Brown, Sr. on December 25, 1950 and for 25 years she worked alongside her husband at Brown Auto Parts in Aberdeen as the bookkeeper. She was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church and she was actively involved in prayer group and taught Bible classes. Her hobbies included yard work, being with her friends and Bridge club.
A graveside service will be at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen has been entrusted with the arrangements.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Arthur Brown (Rosey) of Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Jim Brown (Katie) of West Point and Kimberly Inez Brown Catledge (Alex) of Aberdeen; 3 great grandchildren, Collins Brown, Mary Charles Brown, and Coleman “Cole” Catledge; special friend, Sherrell Sturdivant; and her caretaker for many years, Willie Mae Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband.
Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9 until 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
