James S. Laney

James S. Laney, 86, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the NMMC-Tupelo. He was born in Monroe County on June 9, 1940 to parents Shelly Laney and Nelda (Mayfield) Laney.  He lived most of his life in Louisiana but had resided in the Nettleton for the past 21 years. He completed his bachelors degree and was a retired nurse. He was of the Catholic faith. James enjoyed spending time at the Lee County Library and loved being on his computer.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Rev. Robert Hogue officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to service at the funeral home from 2-3 pm.

He is survived by his cousins Doyle Young (Virginia), Linda Payne, Paul Laney, David Young, Craig Young, Lisa Rye, Kristy Kelly, Donis Gold, Brenda Henley and Kim Q'Quinn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
