Janice Beatrice Kennedy, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at River Place Nursing Home in Amory, Mississippi. A lifelong resident of Monroe County, Janice was born in 1946 and was raised by her adoptive parents, Herman Eikner, a firefighter, and Amy "Dolly" Eikner, a waitress.
Janice graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1964. During the young years of her life, she drove fast cars, rode horses, listened to a new type of music called "rock and roll" and even met a young singer named Elvis Presley.
Graced with beauty and a style all her own, Janice was blessed with two highly energetic sons. The first son, Terrell Wayne Eikner, arrived with a thunderous voice in late 1969 while the second son, Robert Lloyd Trimm, easily impressed everyone with his mass of black hair during his grand entrance early in 1972. Despite their mischievous and very different personalities, Janice deeply loved her sons and carefully nurtured their growth from adventurous boys into mature and responsible men. In addition, after the death of her adoptive father, Janice took in her adoptive mother and lovingly watched over her until she sweetly departed in 1989.
As a professional, Janice was employed at Walker Manufacturing Company in Aberdeen starting in 1971. During her long tenure with Walker, she diligently worked in the shipping area as a Picker and skillfully labored as a Quality Assurance Inspector two years prior to her retirement in 1991.
Throughout her life, Janice possessed a love for the Lord. She attended First Baptist Church in Aberdeen and Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton. When she could not physically be at church, she listened to televised sermons conducted in Columbus. Her other interests included spending time with her family, laughing at jokes, fishing, and listening to music. Among her favorites were Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, The Beach Boys, and Alabama.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Mary McLaurin Eikner of Ocean Springs and Mary Sullivan Trimm of Hamilton; one brother, Alvie Oscar Foote, Jr., of Las Vegas; one sister, Connie Foote Warren of Aberdeen; one granddaughter, Holly Mary Trimm of Hamilton; one grandson, Jeromy Robert Trimm of Hamilton and his wife Brittney and step great grandchildren Colton and Payton Brown of Hamilton; one step grandson, Jonathan Hull of Hamilton; two step granddaughters, Dr. Jenna Hull of Jackson and Erin (Grant) Champagne of New Orleans and step great grandchildren Sloan and Adeline Champagne of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, her mother, Ethel Foote, her stepfather, Alvie Oscar Foote, Sr. and her brother, Herman Foote.
At River Place Nursing Center, Janice was known for her engaging personality and care for others. Those who knew her were blessed. Her love, compassion, kind heart, and beautiful smile will not be forgotten.
