Bartahatchie

Oliver Jefferson “Jeff” Box passed away on June 2, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.  Jeff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent many years working at Walker Manufacturing in Aberdeen and True Temper Sports in Amory. He also faithfully served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Bartahatchie Fire Department.

A longtime member of Bartahatchie Baptist Church, Jeff loved his church family and, above all, his Lord and Savior. He was known for his gentle spirit, meekness, and unwavering faith. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with those he loved most. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home, Aberdeen with Bro. Jonathan Goodin officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery near Sulligent.

Jeff is survived by his son, Keith Box (Jennifer); daughters, Tammie Box and Christie MacLaren (Brad); grandchildren, Ashlyn Trentelman (Tanner), Alivia Box (Bradlee Parish), Camryn MacLaren (Spencer Griffin), and Noah MacLaren; great-grandchildren, Oaklynn, Berkley, and Marleigh; sister, Bonnie Stafford (J.B.); and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also lovingly remembered by Lexi Neyman.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela Carol Box, whom he deeply missed and with whom he is now reunited; his parents, Oliver Dean Box and Iva Mae Brewer Box; his grandparents, Jefferson Lancaster Box and Mary Etta Coleman Box, who lovingly raised him after the loss of his parents; his infant son, William Dean Box; sisters, Wanda Gunnels and Gayla Trull; nephew, Danny Trull; and his beloved in-laws, William “Bill” Rooks and Edna Rooks, whom he loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Trentelman, Spencer Griffin, Bradlee Parish, James Morton, Claude Cantrell, and Ricky Honeycutt.

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.

Jeff will be remembered most for his love for the Lord, his quiet strength, his kindness toward others, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy of faith, humility, and devotion will continue through the generations who were blessed to know and love him.

“His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant…” — Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
