Bartahatchie- Jimmy Harold Rea, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. He was born to Grady Rea and Alice Beatrice Oliver Rea on September 5, 1943 in Monroe County. He  attended Hamilton High School . He married the love of his life Patricia Cantrell in 1960. Jimmy worked for 10 years at Walker MFG in Aberdeen, MS and after 30 years he retired from Sears in Columbus, MS. He was a longtime member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Hamilton, MS where he served as a deacon since 1967. His hobbies included working on cars, being out on the tractor and gardening. He loved to camp, hunt and fish. Jimmy enjoyed being with his family and he was always willing to help his many friends and neighbors , never expecting anything in return.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 15, 2024 at 11:00 am at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen, MS with Bro. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial will be in Fig Hill Cemetery.

 He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Cantrell Rea of Bartahatchie; one son, Doug Rea of Hamilton, MS; one daughter, Tammy Johnson (John) of Hamilton, MS; one brother, Danny Rea (Brenda) of Hamilton, MS; four grandchildren, James Rea, Ryan Savage, Laura Robinson (Brett), Cory Savage and great grandchildren Rory, Remington and Roxanna Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Berniece Garner, Lois Ashmore and brother, Onie Rea.
Pallbearers will be Cory Savage, Ryan Savage, Cody Cantrell, Ray Cantrell, Terry Cantrell, James Rea, Robert Ray and John Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gregg Whitaker and Chad Whitaker.

Visitation will be on Sunday April 14, 2024 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
