John Thompson Maxwell, 91, passed away August 28, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born October 8, 1929, to James Maxwell, Sr. and Georgia May Lind. John is survived by his wife of 58 years Lovina (Schrock) of Prairie, Mississippi, and 8 children: Sandra (Rod Taylor), Baha, Mexico; Bonnie (Richard Troyer), Goshen, Indiana; Scott (Tammy), Cedar Crest, New Mexico; William (Linda), Jewett, Ohio; Todd (Dena), New Rumbly, Ohio; James, Goshen, Indiana; John (Kathleen), Ridgewood, New Jersey; Rebecca, Pearland, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 great-granddaughter.
John lived a long and interesting life. He was a semi-pro boxer, Mississippi State University graduate, Future Farmers of America teacher, dairy farmer of 50+ years, and a cancer survivor. He was known to be a hardworking Scottish-American gent who proudly displayed his Scottish heritage and Maxwell Family crest. He was most known for loving his best friend and wife of 58 years, Lovina, whom he still called his sweetheart.
