Karen Dias

August 29, 1950 — September 26, 2023

Aberdeen

Aberdeen- Ms Karen was born on 8-29-19 in Hackensack , New Jersey to Arthur Jones Sr. and Marion Skagg-Jones. She was the youngest of three children; brother Arthur Jr. and sister Linda "Linny" Jean.  After graduating from Hackensack High School in 1968 her mother and father strongly encouraged her to marry or what we would call today an arranged marriage to Charles Mabie they were married in a small ceremony on 10-11-69 which was dissolved rapidly in divorce. It was in 1971 when she met her forever Joseph Dias Jr he was just out of the military. In late 1973 they welcomed their first of four children Joe Jr namesake Joseph Dias III when Joey was born that was the day Ms Karen took the Dias name, literally there was never a ceremony, no rings nor paperwork, she simply signed "Mrs. Karen Dias" on the birth certificate and continued signing until the day she died.

They made their first home on Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She stayed at home while Joe Jr worked at a local body shop. In 1976 they welcomed Andrea Lynn, followed by Steven who was born in the McDonald's parking lot  making headline news ( she carried that article with her all these years) then Sean who did make it to the hospital in 1979. She was tough and so stubborn she could cut her ice blue eyes like it was her job, usually kidding but sometimes not. She did most things other mothers wouldn't dream of for her family. A family favorite story was when she had a car full of little ones at nine months pregnant changed her tire on the side of the turnpike.

After the kids had grown to ages 8, 5, 4 they packed up and drove not knowing where until landing in Millport, AL. Joe Jr worked at Weyerhaeuser until his passing in 2002. She stayed in the family home until after her youngest Seans unexpected passing after some convincing (stubborn) she came to live with son Joey and wife Kasie. You could find her on her deck watching the boats, small children or counting the "fuzzy white things" in the Tombigbee waterway, her vision was terrible but very entertaining. She would sit in the sun every afternoon , smoking her menthols and throwing back her "Natty-lights" enjoying the good life!

She is survived by her son's, Joseph Dias III (Kasie) and Steven Dias, grandchildren, Paige Dias, partner Dalton Hagood with unborn great granddaughter Charolotte Reese, Joseph Devin Dias (Kassidy) and granddaughter Zoey Lynn.

She is preceded in death by her forever Joe Dias Jr, daughter Andrea Lynn and son Sean Dias.

She is without measure already missed.
