Kathryn Tharp Lusby, more affectionately known as “Gigi,” went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, from St. Francis Hospital in Memphis leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Born in Meridian to Claude and Ruby Ward Tharp, she was a 1971 graduate of Aberdeen High School and married David Lusby on August 19, 1972. As a devoted wife, loving mother, and a cherished Gigi to her grandchildren, her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent loving, encouraging, and caring for them.
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, and she was known for her kind and thoughtful heart and her willingness to serve others. She especially enjoyed decorating for every occasion, adding her special touch to every holiday and celebration. She had a gift for making every occasion feel special. Her generous spirit, gentle heart, and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but a lasting example of what it means to love deeply, serve selflessly, and make others feel special. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will live on through her family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Throughout her professional career, she worked for the Aberdeen School District, and she was Monroe County Chamber Community Development Manager from where she retired. In 2019, she opened Twisted Twig Designs and worked until its closing in February 2021 due to her health.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Aberdeen with Bro. David Harrell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Lusby; daughters, Courthey Hill (Shawn) and Whitney Wilemon (Tyler); grandsons, Cooper Hill (Kylee), Grayson Wilemon, Hayes Wilemon and great granddaughter, Georgia Kathryn Hill; and her brother, Claude Tharp, Jr.
A special ‘thank you’ is extended to the staff of St. Francis Hospital for their devoted care.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Hill, Tyler Wilemon, Cooper Hill, Grayson Wilemon, Hayes Wilemon, David Hodges, and Frank Bender.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
Memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church; Palmer Home for Children; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or to a charity of choice.
