Libby Rooks

Olivia Carolyn "Libby" Rooks, 71, passed away at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus.  She was born on February 7, 1952 in Aberdeen to the late Acker and Iladean Berry Lackie.  Libby was a graduate of Aberdeen High School and was married to Tony Rooks.  A lifelong resident of Monroe County, she worked a number of years at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory and retired as a receptionist from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.  She was a member of Egypt Baptist Church.  Libby enjoyed bingo, fishing and keeping up with what was going on in the community.  She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her dog, Tiny.

Libby is survived by her 2 sons, Tony Rooks (Paula), Aberdeen and Patrick Rooks, Hamilton; sister, Darnell Bowler of Smithville, VA; brother, Kenneth Lackie (Barbara), Hamilton; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Acker and Iladean Lackie and her husband, Tony Rooks.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Tisdale Lannn Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Joe Ferraro and Bro. Randy Clardy officiating.  Burial will follow in Fig Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Kyle Reeves, Nathan Reeves, Skyler Sanderson, Greg Lackie, Danny Huffman and Joey Ferraro.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5-7 PM.
