Marilyn D. Carter Gilreath, 89, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at her home in Moss Point. Born in the Quincy Community on December 7, 1936, she was a daughter to Jimmy Carter and Vivian Coleman Carter Hartley. She attended Quincy school and worked in the garment industry prior to retiring. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. She often cleaned her own game. She was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan, and she sang with the Carter Brothers many years ago.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Burial will follow in the Boggan Cemetery near Hatley.

She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Mouchett-Perry (John), Vivian Salazar (John), and Jackqueline Van Ornam (Tim); son, Jamie Mouchett; grandchildren, Jeremy Marshall (Olivia), Jordan Van Ornam, Graham Van Ornam, Peter Van Ornam, Madeline Van Ornam, Joseph Van Ornam, Augustine Van Ornam, and Max Van Ornam; and a host of great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Aaron Van Ornam and Marilyn Marshall; and siblings, James Carter, Linda Carter, and Joe Carter.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
