Mary Riggan

Mary Anna Riggan, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. She was born January 26, 1946, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, to the late James Homer Tucker and Clara Bell Masengil Tucker.

She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1964 and attended Mississippi State University for four years, earning a bachelor’s degree with a minor in floral design and education. Mary Anna also furthered her education with a one-year degree in medical technology.

In 1969, she married James Eston “Bud” Riggan, and together they were blessed with a wonderful family: a daughter, Mary Virginia “Ginger” Stahl (Needham); a son, James Edmond “Jim Ed” Riggan (Kathy); and five grandchildren, Anna Claire Evans (Jayce), Neelie Grace and William Tucker Stahl, and James Wyatt and Mary Kate Riggan.

Throughout her career, she worked as a medical technologist for multiple hospitals, served as secretary for First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, and worked for Sam Criddle at The Flower Basket. She was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In her years after retirement, she enjoyed studying genealogy, spending quality time with her grandchildren, and going on car rides that always included ice cream. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Monroe County Historical Society, the Aberdeen Women’s Club, and served as a board member at Evans Memorial Library.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Friendship Baptist Church in Aberdeen with Bro. Mike Bell, Bro.Todd Bowen and Bro. Dennis Smithey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren; her brother, Kelly Tucker (Dorthy); sisters-in-law Jane Pullen (Larry) and Debbie Hull; nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and her cat, PeeWee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Billy Wayne “Snuff” Tucker and James Mitchell Tucker.

Pallbearers will be Rubel West, William Randle Jr., Jake Doty, Dr. Marty Tucker, Mitchell Tucker, and John Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be James Wyatt Riggan, William Tucker Stahl, Jayce Douglas Evans, Buzzy Cullum, Sunny Clay, Hal Bourland, Willie Lockett, and Laron Griffin.

Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church.
