Merriel Chism Jones, 90, died Sunday, June 30, 2019, at her residence. She was born January 4, 1929, in Aberdeen to James Eli Chism and Villie Miller Chism. She was a life long resident of Aberdeen. Ms. Jones was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of the Aberdeen First Christian Church. She is survived by one son Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes (Martha) of Amory, MS; two grandchildren Gail Smith (Norman) of Aberdeen, MS and Bruce Benton (Lori) of Smithville, MS; two great-grandchildren Brittney Irvin (Gabe) of Hamilton, MS and Warren Smith (Jessica) of Aberdeen, MS; six great-great-grandchildren Robert Easton Flanner, Afton Irvin, Eli Irvin, Wesson Blake Smith, Kamron Benton and Austin Craig; one brother Jim Chism, Sr.; and her caregiver Betty Sandlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Guy Jones Jr., and four brothe
