Nova Jean Pounders

Nova Jean Malone Pounders, 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the NMMC in Tupelo.  She was born in Aberdeen on August 15, 1951 to the late Kary and Lucille Williams Malone.  Nova was a graduate of Hamilton High School, ICC where she recieved her LPN degree and later the Mississippi University for Women where she received her RN degree.  She married Gerald Pounders on May 30, 1969.  Nova worked 24 years at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory and 6 years at the Pioneer Medical Clinic in Hamilton.  After retirement, her greatest joy was keeping her granddaughters.  Nova loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, tending to her roses, raising a garden, canning and making jelly.  She dearly loved people and was so loved by others.  She was a great Matriarch of her family and loved the with her whole heart.  Her relationship with God was most important and she was a faithful member of Full Gospel Church in Columbus.

Nova is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Pounders; daughter, Samantha Autrey (Bill), Hamilton; son, Doug Pounders, Hamilton; sisters, Edna McCann (Ken), Hamilton and Norma Shannon, Amory; granddaughters, Roxie Waltman and Ashley Waltman both of Hamilton, Eric Sellers of Hamilton and Brian Sellers of Houston, TX; nieces and nephews, Nancy McCann, Kenny McCann, Anita Knight, Jimmy Springfield, Dale Springfield and Kevin Springfield.

Nova is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Fig Hill Church of God with Bro. Don Rouse and Bro. Lynn Galloway.  Burial will follow in Center Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jimmy Springfield, Dale Springfield, Kevin Springfield, Jeff Howell, Bill Autrey and Terrell Stripling.

Visitation will be held prior to service at Fig Hill from 1 PM until 3 PM.
