Paul Ray Garrett

Paul Ray Garrett, 73, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the NMMC-Tupelo. Paul was born on January 1, 1953 in Monroe, County MS to parents Harold Garrett and Thelma (Jackson ) Garrett. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring  after 21 years as an E7. While in the Army he served as an MP, an Army band drummer and a recruiter. However, his lifelong love and true talent was drumming. Paul also had a long career in law enforcement spanning several decades. His military and law enforcement career took him to many places around the world and the United States. Paul had a passion for cars that lasted his entire life, whether he was working on them, talking about them or buying them, they brought him so much joy. In his younger years he loved scuba diving and exploring the world beneath the surface. He also had a gift for telling jokes a trait that will be remembered by everyone who knew him. He will be incredibly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11 am in the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Rev. Jordan Davis officiating. A committal service with military honors will be at Doty Chapel Cemetery in Shannon.

Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to service from 10-11 am.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Marie Garrett, Jeanne Danielle Carmen (John), one son, Ethan Samuel Garrett, three grandchildren, Lacianna Marie Tallent, Joseph Alberto Oliveira , Holden Welles Carmen, one sister, Nina Garrett, one brother, Jimmy Garrett, one aunt, Peggy Smith  and special friends Paul and Evelyn Laney.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Curry Justice, Gary Monaghan, Ethan Garrett, John Carmen and Donnie Elkin.
