Archie Preston Lovell, 76, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at his residence in Hamilton. Preston was born on August 1, 1949 in Aberdeen to Richard Marvin and Cecile Yvonne Stoddard Lovell. A graduate of Hamilton High School, he began his career as a truck driver and drove for many years as owner/operator and was known as “Antifreeze” on the CB radio. In 1976, he married the former Patsy Kimbhal and he was a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. Under sheriff Ruble Maxey, he served as an auxiliary deputy, and he was proud to wear the badge. He would tinker with anything that had a motor. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed dirt track racing in his early years. Watching western movies was a favorite past time as was traveling to Lake Tiak o’khata. He and his family easily traveled to Disney World more that 50 times and was selected on one occasion as the “First Family” to enter. A constant presence in the Hamilton community, Preston will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
In addition to his wife of nearly 50 years, Patsy Lovell, he is survived by his two daughters, Tina Alsup (Paul), Hamilton and Sherri Dyess, Hamilton; two sisters, Linda Reiland and Brenda Smith, both of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Ethan Alsup and Reed Dyess (Sarah); a host of nieces and nephews and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Lovell; sister, Richie House; son-in-law, Harrell Dyess; and grandson, Tyler Dyess.
Pallbearers will be James Smith, Danny Stoddard, Will Chaffin, Reed Dyess, Ethan Alsup, and Paul Alsup. Honorary pallbearers will be former trucking and farming friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday from noon until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish, Gideons’ International, or to a charity of choice.
