Sara Kerr Myers, 90, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Heritage House in Vicksburg. The daughter of George Elbert Kerr and Johnnie Lee Kerr, she grew up in Carroll County with her younger brother and sister, Johnny E. Kerr and Carolyn Ann Kerr. In West Point, she met George R. Myers on a blind date and married him on July 23, 1950. In West Point, Sara worked at Woolworth’s and Bo at Kroger before Teresa Lynn was born, they moved to Okolona where George was manager of Kroger, and where Susan was born. They moved to Aberdeen following Bo’s job as manager of Kroger. Sara’s first job in Aberdeen was at Sears, then CPA Bob Miller’s office, and she was eventually hired as head librarian at Evans Memorial Library, a dream job because she loved books and reading. Other hobbies included family genealogy, painting ceramics, growing flowers, and collecting salt and pepper shakers. After Bo’s death in 1993, Sara moved to Vicksburg where she enjoyed spending time with family and working as resident manager of Cain Ridge Apartments. Dementia made it necessary for her to spend her last 10 years at Heritage House in Vicksburg where she was known for her feistiness. The family sincerely appreciates all the TLC she received at Heritage House and considers many of the staff adopted family.
She is survived by her brother, Johnny E. Kerr (Jane), Walnut, MS; her sister, Carolyn Ann Adderhold (Jerry), Saltillo, MS; half-brother, Danny Kerr, Carrollton, MS; daughter, Teresa McCann (Bill), Madisonville, KY; daughter, Susan Fitzgerald (Robert), Vicksburg, MS; grandsons, John Fitzgerald, Starkville, MS, Brian Fitzgerald (Sarah), Brandon, MS, and David McCann, Madisonville, KY; granddaughter, Sarah McCann, Madisonville; great grandchildren, Blake Abigail Epps, Glen Burnie, MD; and Charlie and Elizabeth Swann, Brandon, MS.
