Sarah Diane Coward Darty, 66, passeda way on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Starkville Manor Nursing Home. She was born on January 15, 1955 to Webb and Mary Sue Barrett Coward. Sarah was a 1973 graduate of Hamilton High School later attending business school. For many years, she was an executive secretary for the Beneke Corporation in Columbus. She also worked for Egger’s Department Store and was an insurance agent. Sarah grew up attending Hamilton United Methodist Church but was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Lackey. She was a master with her hands and enjoyed making pottery, crocheting, and other arts and crafts. She could sing and dance, play darts, and would support her children in all sports as well as serving as troop leader in the Girl Scouts. Her family was most important to her and she loved to spend time with her girls and attend family reunions. She loved to travel.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening, December 30, 2021 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home with Sterling Coleman and Bro. Jack Inmon officiating.
She is survived by her daughters, Mitzie Darty of Columbus, Claire Bennett (Matt) of Hamilton, and Nan Gordon of Hamilton; 7 grandchildren, Stuart Coggins, Charlie Coggins, Tyler Gordon, Alley Gordon, Garrett Gordon, Webb Bennett, and Anna Caroline Bennett; great grandchildren, Everly Howell and Rowdy Gordon; and her nieces and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sherry Decker and Brenda Coleman; and brother-in-law, Tommy Coleman.
Visitation will be from 5 until service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
