Spc. Matthew Wade

U.S. Army Specialist Matthew Ryan Wade “Matt,” 28, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 in North Carolina. Born on June 3, 1997 in Columbus, he was the son of Henry Lee Wade, Jr. and Charlotte Ann Reiland-Jenkins. Matt was a graduate of Hamilton High School. With a true servant’s heart, he found opportunity to serve his community working for the Aberdeen Police Department and was able to work with his mother, together fighting crime. He later worked for Oktibbeha County, and he loved being a police officer. Not only did he love his community, but he also loved his country and enlisted in the United States Army. Stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, he was in special forces training and was currently waiting to go to Ranger school. An adrenaline junkie, he enjoyed exciting things and was always up for a trip to the gym to workout. In addition, Matt was able to explore his theatrical experience in the made for YouTube movie, Slender.

He is survived by his father, Henry Lee Wade, Jr.; his mother, Charlotte Ann Reiland-Jenkins (Larry); sisters, Courtney Nicole Miller (Chase), Megan Emily Wade (Brennon Johnson), Morgan Wade (Carson Raines), and Stormie Huff (Blake); his grandparents, Bertie Raper and Larry and Judy Jenkins; uncles, Darryl Byrd (Barbara), Chris Byrd (Paige), Mike Byrd, and Brian Wilemon; aunts, Annette Wilemon, Monica Wilemon, Kristy Wade, and Shawn Wade; nieces, Chesleigh Miller; nephews, Charlie Miller, Ruston Johnson, and Easton Menotti; and numerous cousins.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Jean Byrd, Tommy Wilemon, and Henry Lee Wade, Sr.; great grandparents, Gene and Essie Morris; stepfather, David Reiland; and uncles, Walter Wilemon, Ricky Wade and Michael Wade.

Prayers are requested for the family of Kateryna Tovmash who passed away with Matt.
