Viola Hawkins Whitaker

Viola Hawkins Whitaker, 96, died Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. She was born August 12, 1922, in Hamilton to W.T. Hawkins and Dora Hawkins. She was a life long resident of Monroe County. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Church of God. Survivors include two daughters Sarah Mattison (Winford) of Columbus and Shirley Whitlock of Amory, MS; two sons Sonny Whitaker (Marie) of Amory, MS. and Jerry Whitaker (Linda) of Hamilton, MS; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Whitaker, and two daughters Frances Stokes and Ola Mae Smith.
