William "Billy" Brown

William Joseph “Billy” Brown, of Caledonia, passed away August 9, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed. Billy was born September 15, 1958, in Peoria, Illinois. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, he spent most of his life in the Caledonia area. He worked for nearly 30 years at Tronox in Hamilton and was also a business owner. Billy was a fitness enthusiast and accomplished bodybuilder who won multiple titles and awards. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop and took great pride in caring for his yard. He also loved riding his motorcycle and waterskiing. 

He was admired by friends and coworkers alike. Those who knew him remember his love of laughter, his ready smile, and the energy and joy he brought into a room. His nieces and nephews remember his contagious laugh, wonderful personality, and memorable taste in music — Celine Dion, Journey, and Michael Bolton. Coworkers remember him as a hard worker who was always smiling, and friends remember him as loyal and someone they could count on. 

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Couch Brown and Karen Kay Perry Brown, and his brother, Edgar Marion Brown of Aberdeen. 

He is survived by his children, Ashley Brown Gore of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Blake Brown (Anna) of Huntsville, Alabama; Taylor Moore (Kendra) of Columbus; Molly-Kay Brown Darling (Dylan) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Donald Mayo (Jessica) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Tyler Mayo (Jessica) of Nashville; his grandchildren, Jake Gore, Isabella Gore, Adrian Brown, Carter Moore, Casey Moore, Chance Moore, Sullivan Darling, Magnolia Mayo, Meadow Mayo, Siena Mayo, and Ava Mayo; his siblings, Bobby Huffman (Sherry) of West Point, Robert Brown (Sara) of Aberdeen, Cindy Brown of Starkville, and Jon Brown (Tara) of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Aretha Jordan, special friend and caretaker, and the wonderful doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who cared for Billy during his illness. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Aberdeen. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Blake Brown, Taylor Moore, Dylan Darling, Donald Mayo, Tyler Mayo, Jake Gore, Robert Brown, Jon Brown, Daniel Brown and Christopher Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Huffman and Benny Jones. 

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.
