William A. Spencer, 78, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 at River Place Nursing in Amory. He was born November 2, 1946 in West Point, MS to the late Nick and Irene Strickland Spencer. William was a graduate of West Point High School, Class of 1965. He honorably served in the United States Navy. He met and fell in love with Betty Coggins on Christmas Day, 1969. They were married in 1970 and and had 52 wonderful years together. William had a career of over 30 years as a long haul truck driver and would often tell of his childhood, hauling sawdust to Bryan Foods with a horse and wagon. He loved fellowshipping and talking with family and friends. A man of great faith in Jesus Christ, William attended seminary and spoke and preached at many churches throughout his life. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Aberdeen. He took time to post many scriptures on his Facebook with the hopes others would come to know Christ. William was a humbly and friendly gentleman who will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
He is survived by his sons, Bill Spencer (Amy), Amory and Nathan Spencer (Nicole), Aberdeen; sister, Sandra Hazelwood,, West Point; brothers, Nicky Spencer, West Point and Larry Spencer (Angela), TX; grandchildren, Hailey Spencer, McKenzie Gassaway (Brady) and Connor Mitchell Spencer; great grandchildren, Haiden Garth, Liam Gassaway, Riley Haywood and Arizona Haywood; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, William is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Jackie Spencer; a granddaughter, Alexis Haywood.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Jay Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday from 11 AM until 1 PM.
